This is a great visual and something I never thought about. As you hinted, there are other things that can be attributed to the low rankings. In Texas, the fact that they are rewriting American history to include a more creationist bent could be a factor. Can you imagine what the public discourse will look like in 20 years if students think that Thomas Jefferson was just a lackey?
ReplyDeleteBut this is definitely something that is food for thought. If you take away the voice of the people, then what will the people do? Collective bargaining gives teachers a stake in what is going on in education. It's not just for raises and healthcare.
